Motat Celebrates Kiwi Can Do Attitude

New Zealand is famous for its ‘can do’ attitude. Over its short history, New Zealand has accomplished many feats such as conquering Mt Everest, and is well known for the ingenuity and creativity of its people.

To celebrate this famed quality MOTAT is offering a range of interactive, educational and innovative activities in its ‘Kiwi’s Can Holiday Experience’, 8 – 24 October 2011.

Visitors will love taking part in Kiwi-inspired activities such as mini-mountain climbing, playing with New Zealand farmyard animals, mini grand-prix racing and gumboot throwing.

MOTAT Museum Director, Jeremy Hubbard, says the ‘can do’ theme is commemorative of the many New Zealanders who have contributed to Kiwi life today through their ingenuity.

“It’s fantastic that we are celebrating New Zealand’s rich creative history at MOTAT.

“Our visitors will really enjoy this uniquely New Zealand cultural experience and celebrating our achievements in an entertaining and educational way.”

Visitors will also get the chance to visit MOTAT’s new $18.5 million Aviation Display Hall.

The 3,000m2 custom designed Display Hall is more than double the size of MOTAT’s original Aviation Hangar and currently houses 25 MOTAT aircraft, including a Lancaster Bomber, DC3, Cessna and Tiger Moth.

The collection will continue to grow as a RNZFA Skyhawk, Sunderland and Solent Flying boats are due to be transported inside the Display Hall at a later date.
