Observation flights this morning confirmed there have been no significant changes to the status of the vessel overnight.
Small pockets of debris have been sighted around the ship - these include bits of plastic and wood.
On shore clean up teams will respond to any reports of debris or oil that has come ashore overnight.
A more detailed media update will be available at about 11.00 am today.
There will be a 3.00 pm press conference at the Tauranga Boys College Auditorium, 664 Cameron Road, Tauranga.
