At about 8.35 a.m. on Saturday 28th January 2012 a crash occurred in Mossburn township at an intersection involving a motor vehicle and an 'AwesomeNZ' bus company vehicle carrying 17 passengers from Queenstown en route to Te Anau.
A vehicle with three persons travelling in Mossburn has gone through a give way sign and hit the bus at the rear causing the bus to be flipped onto the right side wheels and shunted off the road.
All 17 passengers on the bus were uninjured and have been transported to Te Anau by another bus.
The 21 year old male driver of the car and a 17 year old male passenger both received moderate injuries and were transported to Southland hospital by ambulance. A 16 year old male passenger has serious injuries and was flown to Southland Hospital by helicopter
The Police investigation indicates speed and
alcohol were a factor in this
crash.
