Arrests in Newlands aggravated robbery
An Auckland couple will appear in the Levin District Court this afternoon charged in relation to a number of offences in the lower North Island, including the aggravated robbery of Clive's Foodmarket in Newlands on Monday.
Detective Sergeant Martin Todd of the Wellington CIB says the 30 year old man and his 24 year old partner were arrested by Highway Patrol staff in a stolen vehicle south of Shannon yesterday afternoon.
"The pair will be appearing in the Levin District Court this afternoon charged with aggravated robbery, and unlawful taking of a vehicle in Taupo on 1 February, theft of petrol in Napier on 2 February, shoplifting (Lower Hutt 5 February) and a further theft of petrol in Palmerston North yesterday."
Detective Sergeant Martin Todd says Police would like to thank members of the public for providing valuable assistance.
