Delays and detours to be expected next week on State Highway 29 at Maungatapu
Motorists travelling along State Highway 29 (SH29) next week are advised to expect delays while annual resurfacing activity takes place from Maungatapu Bridge to Maungatapu Roundabout.
A detour through Maungatapu will be in place for traffic heading east towards Mount Maunganui whilst the work is undertaken. Motorists heading north towards Tauriko can expect speed restrictions through the construction activity from the Maungatapu Bridge to the Maungatapu Roundabout.
The resurfacing work will commence from 9.00am on Monday 13 February, until 4.00am and again on Tuesday 14 February, to minimise traffic disruption.
The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises motorists to take care as there will also be some night time resurfacing activity in this area from 6.00pm, until 6.00am on Wednesday 15 February and Thursday 16 February.
Bay of Plenty State Highway Manager, Brett Gliddon says variable message boards will be displayed to provide motorists with advanced warning of the works ahead and of the speed restrictions in place.
This work is weather dependant, and if it is wet this closure will be moved to the next available fine day.
The NZTA thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation during these works.
