Body recovered at Scorching Bay, Wellington
Wellington Police have recovered a body on rocks at Scorching Bay earlier this afternoon.
Detective Inspector Paul Basham, officer in charge of the Wellington CIB says the body of an elderly woman was discovered by a member of the public who phoned Police shortly before 2pm this afternoon.
Members of the Police National Dive Squad and the Wellington Police Maritime Unit are currently conducting a shoreline search near to where the body was located.
"At this stage we are treating this death as unexplained until a post mortem examination is carried out tomorrow."
Until the body of the deceased has been formally identified, Police are unable to release any further details at this time.
