Porirua Police investigate aggravated robbery of Tawa dairy
Porirua Police are seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery that occurred at the Tawa Central Dairy last night.
Detective James Withington of the Porirua CIB says at about 8 o'clock last night, a male entered the dairy and attempted to purchase a soft drink. When he was advised he had insufficient funds he produced a large carving knife and went behind the counter towards the store owner.
"Luckily, the store owner managed to chase the offender out of the store. The male then ran north and was seen running into the New World building site, where he discarded the knife.
Detective Withington says Police would like to hear from anyone who either saw this offender loitering in the vicinity of the Tawa Central Dairy prior to the robbery or anyone that saw this male running though the New World building site towards Oxford Street.
"The offender is described as European, unshaven, wearing black pants, a black hooded top with the hood up, with a pair of sunglasses on his head."
Anyone with any information should phone the Porirua Police on (04) 238 1400 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
