NZDF Confirms Vehicle Accident
Two Army Pinzgauer vehicles were involved in a collision with each other, approximately 15 kilometres from Charleston in the Buller District last evening, the New Zealand Defence Force has confirmed.
The accident occurred on a dirt track leading into the Buller Ranges. The vehicles collided on a blind corner while participating in a training exercise in the area.
The accident occurred at 1820 hrs and resulted in four members of the NZ Army being taken to Buller Hospital for treatment.
Two individuals received minor injuries, with one soldier discharged last night. The remaining two soldiers have received suspected broken bones – one to a forearm and one to a cheekbone - and are expected to be transferred to Greymouth Hospital later today.
A scene examination of the accident will occur today, and a repair team will deploy to the location in order to arrange the return of the vehicles to Burnham Military Camp.
