Weather update Christchurch

1 March 2012

Weather update

The Christchurch City Council has received reports of road congestions
and minor surface ponding this morning following wet weather conditions.

Heavy rain overnight has resulted in the Heathcote River breaching its
banks in parts of Bowenvale and Eastern Terrace (in the locations that
it normally occurs). The Council is urging residents to take care around
these areas.

The Council is also asking road users to be vigilant and drive to the
conditions, with many roads around the city down to single lanes as
earthquake repairs and demolition works take place.

The Council is monitoring the situation, however, with the weather now
clearing it is expected that surface ponding will reduce during the day.
