Talbot Forest Working Group Information day
Talbot Forest Working Group Information day
On Saturday 24 March 2012, Talbot Forest Working Group will be holding an information day at the Tripp Street Car Park in Talbot Forest Scenic Reserve Geraldine, between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
The event is held to provide information for locals and visitors to find out about the treasures of the forest, for example, the pekapeka longtail bats, as well as how to deal to plant and animal pests in the area.
Everyone who attends on the day will receive a locally grown native plant, so everyone can have a little bit of the forest for their garden.
The Talbot Forest Working Group, which was set up 15 years ago, is made up of dedicated local people, as well as representatives of the Department of Conservation, Timaru District Council and Environment Canterbury.
“Group members are encouraged with achievements to date and would like to share them with a wider audience,” said group member and local resident Sally Haugh.
“Talbot Forest Working Group works co-operatively to protect and enhance Talbot Forest Scenic Reserve at Geraldine. The information day is about sharing the group’s experiences. At previous information days, we have had people from all over Canterbury come and look at the work we are doing.”
