Get the Full Story on Auckland’s Tree Rules

The Tree Council are hosting a seminar “Tree Rules - The Full Story. Understanding Auckland Council’s Tree Protection Rules” to enlighten the public regarding the full implications of the changes to Auckland’s Tree Rules since the Environment Court decision in 2011.

The meeting will be Chaired by UNITEC Lecturer Penny Cliffin and is to be held at the Grey Lynn Community Hall, 510 Richardson Road, Grey Lynn from 2-4pm on Saturday 24 March 2012.

The Tree Council’s Field Officer Hueline Massey says “There has been a lot of confusion and misinformation floating around about exactly what the changes will mean for different areas of the city. It is a complex picture and we thought it was time to put the record straight for everyone”.

The speakers will include Lawyer Joanna van Bergen from Ellis Gould and Partners, who will outline the changes to the Resource Management Act affecting trees, give a summary of the Environment Court ruling, indicate the potential consequences of the illegal removal of trees and point out other forms of tree protection on your own property.

Auckland Council staff Celia Davison and Michael Wood will discuss the Auckland Council’s tree protection rules.

Craig Webb from the New Zealand Arboricultural Association will discuss arborists’ experience on interpretation difficulties of the tree rules for practitioners and their clients.

All are welcome and a gold coin donation to cover costs is appreciated. Tea and coffee will be served.
