Silo Cinema Presents 'The Goonies'

Kicking off the Autumn Season of Silo Cinema, we’re proud to present classic film The Goonies.

It’s excitement all the way as Steven Spielberg and Richard Donner, the makers of ‘Indiana Jones’, ‘Gremlins’ and ‘Superman’, combine forces to create the Family Adventure of the year! Mikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in the place of their neighborhood — unless enough money is raised to stop the construction of the golf course, and that’s quite doubtful.

As usual, our wonderful food providers and craft beer and wine bar will be open from 5pm. We will also have Auckland’s best DJs providing sweet sounds before the film begins at 8pm. DJs Hannah Sarney and Lia Kent-MacKillop will keep the crowd happy before the film and the Stardome will have several high-powered telescopes on hand for you to view the night sky. The film will be prefaced with a short film called ‘A Very Nice Honeymoon’, shown in conjunction with the Show Me Shorts Festival. This event is entirely free and definitely family friendly!

More on The Goonies: But when Mikey stumbles upon a treasure map of the famed “One-Eyed” Willy’s hidden fortune, Mikey, Brandon, and their friends Lawrence “Chunk” Cohen, Clark “Mouth” Devereaux, Andrea “Andy” Carmichael, Stefanie “Stef” Steinbrenner, and Richard “Data” Wang, calling themselves The Goonies, set out on a quest to find the treasure in hopes of saving their neighborhood. The treasure is in a cavern, but the entrance to the cavern is under the house of evil thief Mama Fratelli and her sons Jake Fratelli, Francis Fratelli, and the severely disfigured Lotney “Sloth” Fratelli. Sloth befriends the Goonies and decides to help them.
