16.07.2012

Orion Health Godzone Adventure Premieres On New Zealand’s TV Screens This Week
The first of four documentaries covering the inaugural Orion Health GODZone Adventure hits Sky Sports this coming Thursday at 7.00pm. Witness the thrills, the spills, the highs and lows as teams embark on an epic journey from Milford Sound to Queenstown through some of New Zealand’s most challenging and beautiful terrain.

‘Wild Racers’, filmed in HD, is a new TV concept encompassing 24 episodes, covering six of the World’s most incredible expedition adventure races. The series is being broadcast throughout Asia, Fox Sports in Australia and customers of Qantas and Air New Zealand have already enjoyed episodes via their in-flight entertainment platform. Global broadcast partners covering the UK, Europe, USA and South America will follow shortly giving adventure racing an unprecedented reach.

Event Co-Director Warren Bates says that the filming and broadcast of four half-hour documentaries is a chance for competitors to relive their experiences and for armchair adventurers to immerse themselves in the physical and mental challenge of a non-stop five day event.

“I’ve been lucky enough to watch all four episodes and they’ve done a great job capturing the beauty of the landscapes, the enormity of the challenge and the emotional upheaval that teams undergo as they push themselves to the limit.”

Tears, laughter, frustration and elation are all part of the mix with teams expected to cover the 500km route from start to finish using only a map and compass to navigate. The teams travel through a series of checkpoints and transition areas over several days and nights with decisions to rest and sleep left solely to the discretion of the competitors. The lack of sleep and physical stress makes for some highly entertaining viewing.

Episode 1 airs Thursday 19th July at 7.00pm on Sky Sports 3
Episode 2 airs Thursday 26th July at 7.00pm on Sky Sports 3
Episode 3 airs Thursday 2nd July at 7.00pm on Sky Sports 3
Episode 4 airs Thursday 9th July at 7.00pm on Sky Sports 3
