Fatal Crash in Dargaville, Northland

Fatal Crash in Dargaville, Northland

SH14 has been closed as emergency services deal with a fatal crash.

A van with eight elderly occupants left the road 3kms north of Dargaville at about 4.20p.m., coming to rest in a ditch.

One person is confirmed to have died at the scene and others are being treated and transported by ambulance and helicopter.

There are no practical diversions around the scene and motorists are advised to delay travel through the area. The road is blocked as tow trucks are positioned to secure the van which is in an unstable position. The closure is expected to be in place for some hours as a result.

Police are aware of the disruption the incident is likely to cause and will open lanes as soon as possible.
