Auckland: Victim urged to contact Police

Victim urged to contact Police

Police are urging a young woman who was pushing a pram along View Rd, Mt Eden on Friday October 26 and who was inappropriately approached from behind by a man, to contact them as soon as possible.

A witness who saw the interaction unfold at about 4.30pm chased the man off and called Police who arrested him in a nearby street. He has since been charged with offensive behaviour.

Constable Alex Lawton of the Avondale Police says the witness reported that the young olive or dark-skinned woman was wearing orange shorts at the time of the incident and turned to the alleged offender with the intention of hitting him with her drink bottle.

"I would like to speak to the woman he encountered so as to get a more detailed account of what occurred," Mr Lawton said.

The woman should either call 09 820 5752 to speak with Constable Lawton or e-mail him - alexander.lawton@police.govt.nz
