Arts in the Park returns

The popular ‘Arts in the Park’ festival returns to Hawera’s picturesque King Edward Park, next Saturday 1 December.

South Taranaki District Council events coordinator, Jody Bloor, says the arts and crafts festival is the perfect place to find that Christmas gift or piece of artwork for the home.

“King Edward Park looks stunning and there couldn’t be a better setting for artists and craftspeople to display their works,” says Ms Bloor.

“It’s great to be able to see the artworks being created as well as linger with those pieces on display, and with everything from corrugated iron animals to paintings, wooden toys to mosaic art, there is sure to be something for everyone,” she says.

This year an entertainment stage will be set up next to the wedding garden and there will be roving performances throughout the day.

Opotiki artist, Nikki Slade-Robinson will entertain young and old with storytelling, illustration demonstrations and hands on workshops for the children. There will also be a kid’s treasure hunt and a dedicated food area.

The festival runs from 10am - 4pm at King Edward Park, Hawera. If the weather is unsuitable on Saturday, the postponement date is Sunday 2 December.
