At about 4.25pm yesterday (Thursday 22
November) Emergency services were called to the scene of a
fatal vehicle crash at the Duck Rd/Fullerton Rd
intersection, Rotokauri, Waikato.
Police are now able to
confirm that a female has been killed in the crash. Another
occupant has been hospitalised but is in stable
Two other occupants of the vehicle were not
The road will remain closed - and
detours in place - until a scene examination has been
No further details regarding the deceased or
injured persons are available at this time.
The cause of
the crash is not yet known.
Hamilton Police are appealing
to anyone who saw the silver Mazda Lantis sedan prior to the
crash or who assisted at the crash scene, to contact

Even cursory research into media reports from the past forty years reveals a cultural shift in the commemoration of Anzac Day. Among other things, turnout at Dawn services has increased significantly in recent decades.
Contemporary numbers are estimated at 3,000-4,000 in Wellington, and 10,000-15,000 in Auckland. Newspaper reports from the 1970s and 80s estimated Wellington turnouts at 300-800, and Auckland at anywhere from 600 to 4,000. More>>
