No decision made on i-SITE and cruise ship drop-off

Dunedin (Wednesday, 5 December 2012) – No decision of any sort has been made about changing where cruise ship passengers are dropped off in the city or where the i-SITE Dunedin Visitor Centre is located.

Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull says he is aware of persistent rumours that both are to be moved to the historic Dunedin Railway Station and wants to make it clear that no proposal has even been broached.

Last year the Finance, Strategy and Development Committee gave its support to ‘the development of a long term strategy for the Visitor Centre with particular emphasis on its future locations’.

Mr Cull says the Council is always reviewing the situation to create the best outcomes for everyone.

“Decisions will only be made once all the options have been evaluated, all the variables considered and all stakeholders consulted.”
