Tourists die in Pelorus crash
Two foreign nationals were
killed this afternoon in a collision near Pelorus Bridge in
Marlborough.
One of the deceased was the driver of a
vehicle and the other was a rear passenger. Both are
males.
A female front seat passenger and the local female
driver of a ute involved in the crash have both been taken
to Wairau Hospital with serious injuries.
Senior Sergeant
Peter Payne of Marlborough Police said it appeared one of
the vehicles had crossed the centre line.
He said
conditions at the time were atrocious, with torrential rain
and low cloud.
Police are now working to formally identify
the deceased.
State Highway 6 between Nelson and Blenheim
now has one lane open.
Drivers are urged to take extreme
caution and drive to the
conditions.

Arguably Reassuring: Inspector-General Finds GCSB "Arguably" Legal
Of the 88 individuals:
• 15 cases involving 22 individuals did not have any information intercepted by GCSB.
• another four cases involving five individuals were the subjects of a New Zealand Security Intelligence Service warrant and the GCSB assisted in the execution of the warrants. The Inspector-General is of the view that there were arguably no breaches and the law is unclear.
• the Bureau only provided technical assistance which did not involve interception of communications, involving three of the individuals, so no breach occurred.
• the remaining cases involved the collection of metadata, and the Inspector-General formed the view that there had arguably been no breach, noting once again that the law is unclear.
