Police investigating unexplained death of nine-year-old
boy
Ohakune police are investigating the unexplained
death of a nine year-old boy that was discovered deceased at
his Raetihi home early this morning (Friday 7 December
2012).
"A family member discovered the boy was deceased
and notified Police and ambulance," said Detective Senior
Sergeant Keith Borrell.
"We hope to have a post-mortem
completed by late this evening. At this stage the cause of
death remains unexplained."
Police are in the process of
interviewing witnesses and scene examination is underway.
Police have no further comment to make at this
stage.

Independent Police Conduct Authority Chair Judge Sir David Carruthers said today that the decision by the then Commissioner of Police to undertake the operation in Ruatoki Valley and elsewhere on 15 October 2007 was reasonable and justified.
“However, the road blocks established by Police at Ruatoki and Taneatua were unlawful, unjustified and unreasonable... Police had no legal basis for stopping and searching vehicles or photographing drivers or passengers,” he said...
