Three-year-old killed by car
At approximately
8.55pm tonight (Monday, 24 December) police were called to
Hatepe village near Taupo.
It appears that a woman was
leaving a property down a shared driveway on Te Mako Mako
Lane when her car struck a three-year-old boy. Attempts to
revive the boy at the scene were unsuccessful.
Police are
currently investigating the incident and providing support
for the family.
The death of a child is tragic at any time
but is particularly poignant given it is Christmas Eve. Our
thoughts go out to the family at this incredibly difficult
time.
No further information will be provided this
evening and the identity of the little boy will not be
released until all next of kin have been
advised.

But Te Roopu Taurima o Manukau doesn’t get all the blame. The report says there’s a significant gap under disability laws to ensure there’s oversight by qualified clinical professionals. More>>
