Police are advising the public not to go near
the Rakaia River, State Highway 72, Selwyn District. The
river is extremely dangerous and water levels are almost
across the road on the northern side of the Rakaia Gorge
More heavy rain is expected.
If travel is
absolutely necessary police urge road users to drive to the
