Man arrested after serious assault
A 39-year old Christchurch man has been arrested following a serious assault in St Albans overnight.
The man will appear in the Christchurch District Court this morning on a charge of injuring with intent to injure.
Detective Sergeant Mark Reid says Police were called to an address in Harold Denton Place, St Albans, at 10.54pm last night, by a neighbour.
On arrival officers found the victim of the assault lying injured in the driveway, with the alleged offender nearby. The alleged offender was arrested at the scene.
The victim, a 48-year old Christchurch man, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. His condition is currently described as stable.
Detective Sergeant Reid says both men were believed to live in nearby flats.
Enquiries into the assault are ongoing, and a scene examination at the address is continuing this morning.
