“The Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon event is fun for the whole family, it encourages children aged 7-15 years to achieve a personal best and the atmosphere and crowd on the day is very exciting for everyone involved” says Mr van Heerden.

Over the past 21 years more than 240,000 New Zealand children have taken part in a Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon including New Zealand sporting heroes, Alison Shanks, Andrea Hewitt and Sarah Walker.

Kiwi kids can enter the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon as individuals, or in a team of two or three. The Christchurch event has a limited number of places available, so schools and individuals who want to be involved should get in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

To ensure even more Kiwi Kids can take part in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon and Go for Gold, Weet-Bix has set up the Weet-Bix Foundation. Teachers and community leaders can apply for support from the Foundation on behalf of a child between the ages of 7 to 15.

The Weet-Bix Foundation provides worthy nominees with a subsidy or complete funding of Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon entry fees, as well as a subsidy or complete funding of necessary equipment to complete the event.

Scoop Business: Bathurst Gets Nod For DoC Access To Denniston Mine

Conservation Minister Nick Smith has approved access over conservation estate land for Bathurst Resources to develop an open cast coal mine on the Denniston Plateau, above Westport, to the dismay of environmental opponents.

The announcement lands in the middle of delicate negotiations between the company, environmental groups and other interested parties that could pave the way to a broader agreement on the Escarpment proposal, whose resource consents are still subject to court appeals. More>>
