Hastings welcomes 30 new citizens

Hastings will welcome 30 new New Zealanders at a citizenship ceremony to be held Wednesday 13th February 2013, from 6 pm at Te Aranga Marae.

The candidates’ nationalities are as follows:
British 5
British South African 3
Filipino 1
Indian 1
Irish South African 1
Samoan 10
South African 8
Zimbabwean 1
A powhiri will be conducted to welcome the new citizens on to the Marae.
Hastings District Council Councillors will present each candidate with a kowhai tree to symbolise “putting down roots”.
