Serious Assault in Porirua
At about 9am
this morning, Sunday the 10th of February 2013, a 54 year
old woman was walking along the Kenepuru walkway between the
Porirua Railway Station and Kenepuru Drive behind the Mill
Liquorsave. A male has approached this female from behind
and subjected her to a prolonged and serious assault.
Police are seeking assistance from members of the public
who may have witnessed this assault or been in the vicinity
around the time it happened.
It appears the assault was
random and unprovoked.
A 23 year old male was arrested by
Police at the scene and will be appearing at the Porirua
District Court on Monday morning the 11th of February 2013
charged with attempted murder.
Anyone who may have any
information they think is relevant to this enquiry is asked
to contact Detective Constable Peter REEVES at the Porirua
