Upper Waitaki Zone Committee meeting
The Upper Waitaki Zone Committee will meet for its first monthly meeting of the year in Twizel on Friday, 15 February.
The committee will begin the meeting by inviting members of the public in attendance to contribute to the meeting if they wish.
Following this, the committee will spend some time reflecting on the past years’ work, and discussing what the priorities are for 2013.
Next, the committee will focus on the progress being made to implement the recommendations made in its Zone Implementation Programme (ZIP).
The update will specifically focus on biodiversity projects, braided rivers, audited self-management farm plans, and developing a pathway for catchment based water management programmes.
The committee will finish the meeting by looking at groundwater in the zone and the key information that needs to be gathered to inform decisions in the zone.
The meeting is expected to finish at around 1pm.
The Upper Waitaki Zone Committee operates as a joint committee of Environment Canterbury and the Waitaki and Mackenzie District councils. Zone committee meetings are open to the public and community members are encouraged to attend.
