Woman dies in head on crash- son fighting for life
A 33 year old Rotorua woman was killed and her 14 year old son is fighting for his life in Waikato Hospital after a two car head on crash on State highway 2 between Papamoa and Te Puke known locally as "Long Swamp".
The crash occurred at about 4.15pm on Sunday 17 February. The deceased was driving towards Papamoa. As she negotiated a moderate left hand bend she crossed the centre line and collided with a van travelling in the opposite direction.
A second 14 year old from the deceased's vehicle, and the four occupants of the van ranging in age from 4 years to 44 years were taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor injuries.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time as Police are trying to locate next of kin.
