Police release names of two car crash victims
The driver of a Subaru car who was killed when the car crashed into a tree in Edgecumbe last night (Tuesday, 19 February) can now be identified as 19-year-old Kane Jamie Te Riini from Edgecumbe.
The 25-year-old passenger in the vehicle was also killed and he has been identified as Cyrus Aidan Brady, known as Aidan, from Matata.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and the matter has been referred to the Coroner.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the white coloured Subaru vehicle on Main Street immediately prior to the crash are asked to contact either the Edgecumbe Police on 07 304 9004 or the Whakatane Police on 07 308 5255.
