CERA Market Update
Twelve responses have been received from parties wanting to provide a master plan for Christchurch’s new Health Precinct, and the final selection process is now underway.
The Health Precinct, to be located adjacent to the existing Christchurch Hospital, will be a world-class hub for health-related services and education.
A Request for Proposal seeking a master plan for the precinct was put out by the Christchurch Central Development Unit, in conjunction with partners including the Canterbury District Health Board, the University of Otago, the University of Canterbury and the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology.
The successful master planner will be appointed this month.
By May the master plan will be completed and this will determine the development options available. Detailed design will begin around August, and construction should begin early next year.
Meanwhile, the Crown’s purchase of property in central Christchurch for anchor projects is progressing well.
The owners of 58 properties have agreed to sell to the Crown, with settlement having taken place for 11 of these properties.
The Crown is seeking to purchase a total of 350 properties to advance the anchor projects outlined in the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan.
