Police Seek Man Ovwer Assault To Elderly Couple
Christchurch Police investigating a serious assault on an elderly couple in St Martins yesterday are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a person in relation to the incident.
Police are seeking Douglas James Archer, aged 59, of Christchurch. He is described as a male European, 175cm (5ft 9in) tall, and of thin build.
Police believe that Mr Archer has vital information about the assault yesterday afternoon in which a man, aged 72, and a woman, aged 80, sustained serious injuries.
Mr Archer is believed to be travelling in a 1996 Honda Accord LXI sedan, registration number UJ7255.
Detective Sergeant Michael Ford says Mr Archer should not to be approached and anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact Christchurch police urgently on (03) 3637400.
He says the victims, who remain in hospital in a stable condition today, have been significantly traumatised by the incident, but are receiving support from family and friends.
Police have been speaking with the couple today to establish a picture of what occurred in the incident.
