More Fun Attractions and Free Stuff at the Coca-Cola Easter Show than Ever Before

Parents will be feeling much less strain on their wallets this Easter with plenty of free acts, performances and attractions for the entire family at the 2013 Coca-Cola Easter Show.

ASB Showgrounds CEO Mark Frankham says this is going to be the best value Coca-Cola Easter Show yet.

“With children aged 12 and under getting free access to the event and so many free attractions once they’re inside, families will be getting more than their money’s worth this Easter,” he says.

“We want the Coca-Cola Easter Show to be accessible to all and to make it once again the iconic, must-see event we all remember from our childhoods,” says Frankham.

Once through the main gates, families will have free access to watch the death-defying acts at Zirka Circus, enjoy live performances as well as meet and greets with SpottyWot and DottyWot from The WotWots created by Pukeko Pictures, sing along with Alvin and the Chipmunks and visit all the animals at the A&P Show.

The Zirca Circus Chinese Knot performers wow audiences with their balancing acts.

On top of all of this, the chock-a-block full Cultural Stage will entertain crowds with live performances from all over the globe. ‘Metro Maori Electro Craze’ JGeeks, contemporary Samoan dance crew Dee-licious and the colourful Brazilian Divas are just a few of the acclaimed acts.
The Zirka Circus is Frankham’s personal favourite.

“I can’t wait to see the motorbike riders defy gravity in the cage of death. They’ve been training for months to get five riders in the ring at once, it’s going to be incredible,” he says.

Also free-of-charge are the hilarious, death-defying Canadian Bushwhackers’ show, the Strongman contest with feats of Herculean effort, sheep shearing and wool baling competitions and much more.

The fun doesn’t stop there though. Alongside all these fabulous free-of-charge acts the Easter Show is bursting at the seams with other amazing attractions.

The biggest Ferris Wheel Auckland has seen in years will be lighting up the Showgrounds, the all new carnival rides - including the Easter Show's scariest ever attraction Hollywood Horrors - will be eliciting shrieks and screams all night long and the ticketed Dane Rumble and Titanium Concerts are expected to sell-out.

Frankham says the Coca-Cola Easter Show by day and by night will be absolutely buzzing.
“With Titanium and Dane Rumble playing, all the other exciting things going on and of course fireworks ending every night with a bang, the ASB Showgrounds is the place to be this Easter weekend,” he says.

Denniston Announcement: Coal Mine Gains Access Approval

Conservation Minister Dr Nick Smith today announced his approval under the Crown Minerals Act for an access agreement for Bathurst Resources for its Escarpment Mining Project on the Denniston Plateau, near Westport.

“This approval is for an open-cast mine on 106 hectares of the 2026 hectares that comprise the Denniston Plateau. This area is not National Park, nor Conservation Park nor does it have any particular reserve status...

“The loss of conservation values is compensated by a $22 million package by Bathurst Resources. This will fund pest and predator control over 25,000 hectares of the Heaphy River catchment in the Kahurangi National Park, 4,500 hectares on and around the Denniston Plateau, as well as for historic projects on the Plateau itself.
