Look out for Kaipātiki’s consultation campervan
The draft Auckland Unitary Plan consultation is coming to Kaipātiki, and not just at public meetings.
The Kaipātiki Community Facilities Trust, a community development partner of Kaipātiki Local Board, has provided the board with the resources to take the engagement to the streets in a campervan.
The campervan will visit community events around the Kaipātiki area, allowing people to find out what shape Kaipātiki could take as Auckland grows.
The innovative approach is the first of its kind in the draft Auckland Unitary Plan engagement, and will benefit busy families, says Kaipātiki Local Board chairperson Lindsay Waugh.
“For a lot of our young families, it is very hard to fit in around a public meeting schedule,” she says.
“The draft Auckland Unitary Plan is something that affects all residents. By taking the proposals to the places that our young families will be, instead of expecting them to come to us, we hope that more people will be encouraged to give us feedback.
“Kaipātiki Local Board would like to thank the Kaipātiki Community Facilities Trust for all its effort in making this engagement approach possible.”
Look out for the caravan at the following locations – more dates and events will be added over the draft Auckland Unitary Plan engagement period.
20 March 2013, Lynn Reserve, from 5pm
24 March 3013, Mangrove removal day, Manuka Reserve, from 9am
14 April 2013, Glenfield Night Market, from 5.30pm
20 April 2013, Highbury Market, Hinemoa Street, from 9am
