Positive response to Kawerau appeal
Police are extremely pleased with the positive response to a TV appeal to help solve an attack on an elderly Kawerau woman.
The incident involving a 71-year-old woman in her home on 29 December featured last night on Police Ten-7.
A total of 20 calls were received as a result of the appeal and among them are a number of positive lines of enquiry that police will now follow.
Detective Sergeant Darren Thomas said: "We are really grateful for the response we received. It shows that emotions are still running high and there is a real willingness for the community to help the police to solve this vicious assault."
