New Brighton Police to hold community meeting
New Brighton Police are holding a meeting for the business and residential communities who live in and around the New Brighton mall and business district.
The meeting will be held in the Roy Stokes Hall, which is located opposite the New Brighton Police station, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm tomorrow [Wednesday 20 March].
"This is a great chance for the people who live in the community to meet the Police Community team from the New Brighton Police and to tell us about the issues they have," says Senior Sergeant Phil Dean, Christchurch East Community Services Manager.
New Brighton Police are currently developing a crime prevention plan that will focus Police activities towards the causes of problems in the area.
"We will be using Police crime trend information and information from the business and residential communities to work out how our Police resources can be best deployed to reduce criminal activity and make people in the area feel safe," says Senior Sergeant Dean.
"We have invited agencies such as CYFS, WINZ and the Neighbourhood Support Networks to the meeting as well. I am confident that this will be the start of some robust conversations around crime prevention initiatives."
