Arts Centre Appoints Erin Jackson to Trust Board

The Christchurch Arts Centre Trust Board has announced the appointment of a new trustee. The new Board member, Erin Jackson, is also the current president of UCSA and the student representative on the University Council.

Erin has been nominated by the University of Canterbury to replace Sir Tipene O'Regan who retired in May.

Trust chairperson Jen Crawford says the Board is delighted with Erin's appointment.

“We are in a unique phase of the Arts Centre’s history, where it is vitally important that we have the skills and experience – both at a management and governance level – to face not only demands of the reconstruction project but also to engage constructively with the community,” says Jen Crawford.

“Erin brings a further dimension to the Board as we look to engage with the younger generations who will benefit from the recovery effort that is currently underway in Canterbury."

Erin Jackson graduated last year from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Political Science and European Union Studies). She currently holds five board positions and has an extensive background in leadership and governance including a role as trustee for the Student Volunteer Army Foundation.

Erin says she is incredibly excited about the opportunities within Christchurch as the rebuild continues to gather pace and make progress.

“I see the Arts Centre as being an integral part of that; not only is it one of the most special sites to so many Cantabrians, but its historical significance makes its remediation even more poignant,” says Erin Jackson.
“Like so many, I grew up with a love of the attractions, the markets and the people that made the Arts Centre so vibrant - and I'm very much looking forward to playing a role in its revitalisation for the future.”
