Last acceptance date passes for flat land Red Zone offers

Media Release – 31 May 2013

Last acceptance date passes for flat land Red Zone offers

A number of last minute acceptances have been processed over the final week of the Crown’s Residential Red Zone offers for flat land property owners.

This relates to South New Brighton and Southshore properties, which had until 12 months after the date on their offer letter or until this week – whichever came first – to accept the Crown offer. The offers related to 193 eligible properties, with 74 offers due to expire on Tuesday, May 28, and the rest at 5pm today.

Of that 193 total, the owners of three properties have not accepted the offer from the Crown. That brings the total of Red Zone properties owners who have decided not to accept to 130. Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority chief executive Roger Sutton says the acceptances among this group follow the pattern of other flat land numbers.

“Basically it’s 98 per cent who have made that decision to accept the Crown’s money and move on to another home. That is a pretty good uptake of the offer and I am very pleased that we have been able to help these people move on.”

Property owners who have accepted will have nominated a settlement date of up until the end of August to move, with the exception of those who qualify for an extension.
