Bleach attack update

Police are continuing to investigate an incident in which a 45-year-old Northland man had bleach thrown in his eyes.

The man was travelling on State Highway Ten near Oromahoe Road on Monday June 10 about 7am when he was signalled to stop by another vehicle.

He pulled over and was assaulted by two men. During the incident the man had bleach thrown in his eyes and received some minor cuts to his face from a knife used by the offenders.

Northland Police Acting Criminal Investigations Manager Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Burke says Police have talked to a number of people who had driven past the area where the victim had been stopped.

"We would like to thank members of the public who came forward with information and we are following a number of leads."

Mr Burke says Police are still looking at several possibilities for the motive for the attack.

The victim is recovering from his injuries and it is expected that there will be no long term damage to his eyesight.

Anyone who has information about the incident can contact Kerikeri Police on 09 407 9211 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
