NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 21 June 2013

ELECTRICITY

There were seven car vs pole incidents during the week with one of the cars also taking out a roadside pillar.

Our crews were called out to isolate the power at four properties in Mangere East, Mt Wellington, Orakei and Birkdale, due to fire.

Trees brought down lines in several incidents across the city but repairs were made and power restored quickly.

GAS TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION

Contractors in Te Kuiti, Manurewa and Hamilton struck gas pipes while working in the area. Repairs were completed quickly.

PROJECTS

AMETI

Major works in Auckland’s suburb of Panmure continue as a major city transport corridor takes shape - The Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative (AMETI). The project has kept Vector project crews busy installing and relocating services as the area develops. Vector’s main involvement has centred on the relocation of underground cables and moving overhead services underground along several routes from Morrin Road to the Mt Wellington Highway, so that a new multi-lane highway can be built. In the next few months, Vector will be working to boost the power supply for the new Panmure railway station, which includes the installation of a new 300 KVA transformer on the Ellerslie Panmure Highway. Further south, new two-metre underground pipes are being pipe jacked 220 metres from the lagoon to the Panmure Basin to take the increased volume of water to the sea.  To allow this to happen, Vector is relocating overhead power lines along the route and will reinstate them once the work is complete.
