Youthtown Snow Camps Give Youngsters a Real Taste of Winter

Media Release 27 June 2013

Youthtown snow camps set to give youngsters a real taste of winter

Spots are filling up fast for Youthtown’s popular winter school holiday programmes, set to hit some of New Zealand’s hottest ski slopes this July.

Youthtown will be at Whakapapa and Mt Hutt ski fields from July 15 giving young people the opportunity to enjoy skiing and snowboarding experiences. As well as the day adventures for 13-18 year olds, Youthtown’s Outdoors Team will be leading Snow Adventure Camps suitable for first-timers or more experienced snow sport lovers.

Lead by a team of trained instructors, including ex-Olympic skier Ben Nansca, the Youthtown Outdoor Education Team is gearing up for its sought-after Snow Adventure Camps at Whakapapa Ski Field. Covering two age groups (7 to 12 years and 13 to 17 years) these four day camps, which include mountain biking, caving, skiing and snowboarding, are available to New Zealand kids from all regions.

The focus on winter activities gives young people the chance to enjoy New Zealand’s beautiful landscape whilst learning practical skills, building confidence and having fun.

“Kiwi kids are outdoor lovers, even in winter. This is evident by the huge amount of interest we get in our winter holiday programmes, particularly our snow adventure camps,” Youthtown CEO, Paula Kearns, says.

“We’ve been operating our holiday programmes to intermediate and secondary aged students for over 22 years. As well as offering a range of physical, creative and social activities, each programme is purpose built for young people to learn and have fun in a safe, social environment led by expert supervisors.”
