"Wellington has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to great stories and people doing wonderful things. These eight individuals exemplify the diverse and creative community of the coolest little capital in the world."

The talks include stories and insights about belonging and identity, enabling democracy, optimism in problem solving, ethical consumerism, art developing technology, customer loyalty, speciality coffee and Maori insights for leadership.

Delivered by serial social entrepreneur, philanthropy consultant and founding director of four successful NZ companies, Getrude Matshe grassroots community organizer, Ben Knight entrepreneur and founder of the Formary, Bernadette Casey ethical consumerist champion and communications manager for Oxfam NZ, Jason Garman sound artist and music oriented software developer, Bridget Johnson CEO of Loyalty NZ, Lance Walker 2013 NZ Barista Champion and cofounder of Flight Coffee, Nick Clark and leading Maori educator and practitioner, Trevor Moeke.

"All these stories are unique in their individual perspective and experiences, although as a collective, offer a wonderful opportunity to really experience the superb array of work and insights of this nations capital."

The sellout event was held at the City Gallery and was also streamed live.

The organisers will be back next year with what is hoped to be a larger event to serve the increasing numbers of folks interested in attending.

Well, it does seem that about $30 million is the kind of pocket money that the government has readily at hand to throw at foreign corporates – at Warners over The Hobbit, and now at Rio Tinto over the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter.
