A 17-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated robbery and will be appearing in the Whangärei District Court today.
The robbery took place at the Mobil Service Station on Normanby Street between 10pm and 10.15pm. During the incident the station attendant had his wallet stolen at knifepoint and was then assaulted. The victim's property was located at the offenders' address.
Whangärei/Kaipara Area Inspector Tracy Phillips says a thorough investigation has led to the quick arrest of the offenders.
"We take crime such as aggravated robbery seriously. There are consequences for people who carry out this type of crime and they will be held to account."
Ms Phillips says this is also a good result for the victim, who would have been traumatised by the robbery.
