Len Brown’s big road under attack

Mana local Body campaign launch to stop destructive Mangere motorway

Minto for Mayor

20 September 2013

Media Release:

Len Brown’s big road under attack

Mana Movement will hold its local body election launch tomorrow with a public gather to launch a campaign to stop plans for a huge new motorway to cut Mangere and Otahuhu in half while destroying a huge swathe of homes in the process.

The road is part of the AMETI (Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative) from Onehunga to Manukau. (see map)

The launch will take place tomorrow -

Mangere East Hall (Metro Theatre)
362 Massey Road
Mangere
2pm Saturday 21 September

Speakers include:
Mana leader Hone Harawira
Mana Mayoral candidate John Minto
Mana Local Body Team candidates

MC is Martyn (Bomber) Bradbury

Mana is standing candidates for the council’s Manukau Ward (Roger Fowler and Joe Trinder) and the Mangere Otahuhu Local Board (Roger Fowler, James Papali’i, Joe Trinder and Kayla Filimoehala) to fight the government’s new road.

The two existing Manukau Ward councillors, ex National MP Arthur Anae and Alf Filipina have been silent on this attack on Mangere and Otahuhu – they are asleep at the wheel.

A local committee will be formed at the meeting to fight and stop the planned motorway.
