Christchurch player wins $22.6 million with Big Wednesday

Big Wednesday’s big jackpot of $22.6 million has been won by a lucky Christchurch resident.

The ticket was bought from Pak N Save Riccarton in Christchurch.

This winner is yet to come forward, but will be revelling in their good fortune from selecting the correct six numbers and the right coin toss to become New Zealand’s latest multi-millionaire.

“This the third biggest prize won with Big Wednesday,” said Corporate Communications Manager Emilia Mazur.

“Someone in Christchurch has just won an incredible amount of money.”

The largest Big Wednesday prize of $36.9 million was won by a Masterton family syndicate in 2009, and the second largest prize of $27.0 million was won by a young man in Tauranga in September last year.

This big prize payout begins a week of winning with Lotto New Zealand ready to give away more than $54 million to lucky players.

Following on from this Big Wednesday win, Powerball’s Must Be Won draw on Saturday will see at least $32 million won by one or more lucky Lotto Powerball players.

The Powerball jackpot has increased with sales during the week so far, and the current First Division prize pool now stands at $32 million.

Anyone who bought their Big Wednesday ticket at Pak N Save Riccarton in Christchurch should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet or online at MyLotto.co.nz.

Big winners can also call the Lotto New Zealand helpdesk on 0800 695 6886 for information on how to claim their prize.
