Walk 4 Wellbeing – Ramble for Happiness in Hagley Park

The Breeze Walking Festival wraps up with Walk 4 Wellbeing. This event is a free, fun and non-competitive ramble with a difference through Hagley Park also marks the start of Mental Health Awareness week. The theme for 2013 is Connect, so why not bring the whole family, and whānau and your friends?

Sunday 6th October from 11am-3pm

Botanic Gardens – North Hagley Park

Start point: Near the pedestrian bridge in the Botanical Gardens car park.

This beautiful 3km route is accessible for bikes and trikes, wheelchairs and buggies. You can even bring the family dog as the route is outside of the Botanical Gardens. The walk provides encounters with 14 fun and interactive activities, which draw on elements of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing: Give, Keep Learning, Take Notice, Be Active and Connect. Each activity engages walkers of all ages and stages in a diverse and interesting way.

Walk 4 Wellbeing is a non-profit event presented by Community and Public Health, Christchurch City Council, the Mental Health Foundation of NZ and the disability community. Organisers would like to acknowledge the enthusiastic team of volunteers who help make this event happen.

Mental Health Awareness Week (7th – 13th October) is a national annual event promoting awareness of mental wellbeing for all New Zealanders. MHAW is endorsed by the World Federation for Mental Health and marked in over 150 countries.
