Night-time work on the Southern and Eastern Rail Lines |

10 October 2013
Night-time work on the Southern and Eastern Rail Lines
Due to on-going work to
get ready for the introduction of electric trains, buses
will replace trains at night, south of Otahuhu.
Buses replace trains on the Southern and Eastern lines
from approximately 8.40 each evening, seven days a
week.
Buses replacing trains are marked RAIL BUS. All
valid tickets and passes currently accepted on trains are
able to be used on rail bus replacements.
Buses cannot
accommodate bikes, scooters or large personal items.
The
rail bus timetable can be found here: http://www.maxx.co.nz/media/107950/vt_sl_tt_2013.10.11_a4_v4.pdf
These closures are required for KiwiRail to carry out major works associated with the on-going upgrade and electrification of Auckland’s rail network and for testing of new electric trains.
The trains are being tested on the rail network day and night. They are quieter and accelerate faster, so everyone needs to take care.
