Wellington Police seeking witnesses to hit and run
Wellington Police are seeking any witnesses to a hit and run collision that occurred on last night (Wednesday 9th October 2013) at about 5.15pm on a pedestrian crossing near the Downstage theatre at the end of Courtenay Place and crossing Cambridge Terrace.
Police believe a male in his 20s has stepped out on to the pedestrian crossing on the green pedestrian signal and been hit by a car travelling along Cambridge Terrace heading northbound towards Wakefield Street.
The early model hatch back style vehicle has travelled further down Cambridge Terrace before stopping briefly while the victim was assisted to his feet by members of the public.
An ambulance was called and the victim was treated for minor injuries at the scene before making his own way home.
It is thought that the vehicle would have sustained damage to the windscreen.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone that has information about the vehicle or driver.
Anyone with any information are asked to contact Senior Constable McGRAIL at Wellington Road Policing on (04) 381 2000.
