DROP-OFF LAUNDRY SERVICE REVIEWED –
LAST PICKUP 10.00AM FRIDAY
Ruapehu District Council (RDC) has reviewed the future of the drop-off emergency laundry service being operated from Council’s Seddon St office.
Emergency Operating Centre Operations Manager, Warren Furner, said that the last drop-off of laundry will be 10.00am tomorrow (Fri 11 Oct).
“The need to individually label each item of clothing and because the service didn’t offer bedding or towels, seems to have made people shy away from using the service,” he said.
“In addition people seem to prefer to do their washing themselves.”
“So far we have only sent nine bags of laundry away via the drop-off service.”
“The resilient people of Raetihi seem to be making other arrangements for their laundry or using the machines at the Raetihi Holiday Park on Parapara Rd.”
Mr Furner noted that the washing machines at the Raetihi Holiday Park will continue to be available as they are at the moment.
