Taupo homicide victim named

A man killed in
Taupo early this morning has been identified as 19-year-old
Wiremu Birch.
A homicide investigation has been launched
and a post mortem will be carried out in Auckland tomorrow
morning to establish cause of death.
Police want to hear
from anyone in the area of Rifle Range Road, Hinekura Avenue
or Hinemoa Avenue, Taupo who saw or heard anything
suspicious between 2.30am and 3.30am.
