Three charged following Taupo death

Three men will appear in court tomorrow charged in connection with the incident which resulted in the death of 19-year-old Wiremu Birch in Taupo this morning,

The men aged 23, 27 and 32 were arrested by police at various addresses in Taupo this afternoon.

All three have been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear at Rotorua District Court tomorrow morning.

The investigation is continuing and police haven’t ruled out further arrests and charges. Police still want to hear from anyone in the area of Rifle Range Road, Hinekura Avenue or Hinemoa Avenue, Taupo who saw or heard anything suspicious between 2.30am and 3.30am.
